What does Coastal Debt Resolve do?
Coastal Debt Resolve offers business debt-resolution services focused on merchant cash advance obligations. The company describes a process involving settlement negotiations and account-management support, intended to help businesses address debt-related cash-flow pressure.
It is not a lender or law firm, and its services are for businesses rather than personal consumer debt. Enrollment is not a new loan and does not guarantee a settlement or a particular result. Coastal Debt’s service disclosures
What is a merchant cash advance (MCA)?
An MCA generally provides upfront business funding in exchange for a specified amount of future receivables. Collection often involves frequent withdrawals from business revenue or a bank account. These arrangements can put pressure on cash flow when sales fall or several obligations overlap.
A factor rate expresses the total purchased amount relative to the advance; it is not an annual percentage rate. Timing and additional charges matter when comparing costs. The FTC describes MCAs as generally high-cost, short-term financing and highlights concerns about disclosures and reconciliation when revenue falls. FTC small-business financing report
$50,000 × 1.40 = $70,000
A hypothetical $50,000 advance with a 1.40 factor implies a $70,000 purchased amount before any extra charges. The $20,000 difference does not mean a 40% annual interest rate. This is an example, not a Coastal Debt offer.
How can debt resolution help?
The aim is to negotiate terms the business can afford and the creditor will accept. Coastal Debt’s disclosures distinguish program contributions from payments directly to creditors: contributions may include fees and settlement funds. A lower weekly cash outflow is not the same as net savings after fees and other costs. Read the company’s definitions
Before enrolling, ask for the total fee schedule, the proposed payment timeline, what happens if negotiations fail, and the cancellation terms. Compare the full projected cost with the original obligations, rather than looking only at a smaller weekly payment.
Can MCA debt resolution be better than bankruptcy?
It may be a better fit when a viable business can fund an affordable agreement and its creditors are willing to negotiate outside court. The potential appeal is a negotiated arrangement without filing a bankruptcy case. That is a conditional advantage, not proof that resolution is always cheaper, faster, or more effective.
Bankruptcy can provide protections a voluntary settlement program cannot. Chapter 11 generally allows a business to reorganize while operating. Filing usually triggers an automatic stay of many collection actions, subject to exceptions and court relief. Eligible small businesses may use Subchapter V. U.S. Courts: Chapter 11 basics
Joining a settlement program does not itself create that bankruptcy stay or require every creditor to agree. Where negotiations are failing or urgent legal protection is needed, consult a business bankruptcy attorney promptly.
